'We, the People,' a project of Worldview International Foundation - Sri Lanka

Programme Summary


"We, the People" is a global TV magazine programme produced by the Worldview International Foundation (WIF) on sustainable development issues.

Communication Strategies



The programme will showcase the contributions that young people have made towards meeting the challenges posed by problems related to gender, food security, education and culture, environment, human rights, poverty alleviation, health and AIDS information, unemployment etc. The target group of these programmes is youth between the ages of 18-30 years and the goal of the project is to stimulate an interest among these youth on global development issues, empowering them with information and knowledge. 12 youth, from all areas of the world who have made a recognized contribution to sustainable human development will be chosen to host 4 weekly programmes, which will be produced by Young Asia Television (YA*TV).

Children, youth, political development, education, economic development, rights, health and nutrition, HIV/AIDS.

Key Points



YA*TV is expanding it's broadcasting network to Africa and Latin America from the year 2000 and it is expected that it's network will reach 500 million viewers. WIF, located in Colombo Sri Lanka, was founded in 1979 as a development organisation, geared towards dealing in communication and media activities for development. These activities range from participatory grass root projects to production and dissemination of the latest virtual reality products. In order to achieve it's goal of sustainable human development through creating awareness and the mobilising of people for action,WIF utilises both group and mass media.
