Programme Summary


A programme organised to provide a forum for children and youth worldwide to voice their opinions and views on issues of global concern.

Communication Strategies



Initially, more than 10,000 children aged 10-16 from more than 130 countries were selected for internet discussions on societal problems and possible solutions to them. Delegates were then chosen, who attended a week-long summit in Cambridge, Mass. In November 1998. The Delegates worked on refining solutions and coming up with recommendations which were submitted to influential people from political, social and cultural spheres.

Economic development, population, health and nutrition, gender, education, rights, children, youth, women, family planning, political development, hiv/aids.

Key Points



When children did not have access to computers, they were provided access through their school or the nearest community centre.
