Event summary

This workshop, run by the African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) is designed for middle management level officers in government ministries and development agencies responsible for health programmes, projects and activities. The workshop aims to allow participants to be able to mainstream gender in their programmes and activities.

The objectives of the workshop are to:

  • strengthen the overall capacity of participants in gender analysis;
  • equip participants with skills and techniques for gender mainstreaming;
  • allow participants to appreciate the importance of mainstreaming gender in their programmes, projects and activities.

The course covers the following main units

  • Unit 1: Gender and Gender Related Definitions and Concepts
  • Unit 2: Gender and Health
  • Unit 3: Tools for Gender Analysis
  • Unit 4: Gender Mainstreaming
  • Unit 5: Monitoring Gender Mainstreaming
