Event summary

The theme of this years World Newspaper Congress is "Shaping the Future of the Newspaper" which is also the name of the World Association of Newspapers' (WAN) recent research project. The programme aims to focus on the innovations, breakthroughs and opportunities that are benefitting newspapers all over the world and are ensuring the future health of the industry. The Congress aims to update participants on these developments, with the latest data and information on global newspaper trends, examining new publications, new advertising and circulation strategies, new digital product development, and new business practices.

At the same time the 14th World Editors Forum will take place carrying the theme "Quality Journalism in the Digital Age". The conference aims to focus on what newspapers are doing to leverage one of their greatest advantages - valuable, credible journalism -into success on all platforms, print and digital. The conference also aims to look at such topics as newsroom integration, social networking and younger readers, trends in free newspapers and shrinking newsrooms.

Alongside these events, Info Services Expo 2006 aims to showcase the new services and technologies which are shaping the newspaper of the future. The Expo offers newspaper executives a chance to learn about the latest products and services from suppliers to the industry.
