Women Deliver Conference (October 18-20 2007)LocationLondon, United Kingdom Event SummaryThe Women Deliver conference is a major global event bringing together the development and health community on a clear and common goal: improved women’s health, safe pregnancy and childbirth. The goal of the conference is to highlight the critical links between the health of women, mothers, and newborns and the economic, political, and social health of nations. Women Deliver will present data and share evidence, including case studies, to document the contribution of women to national well-being. The conference theme, Invest in Women - It Pays, addresses the urgent need for greater investment in women’s health and the multiple returns such an investment yields: The theme will drive the design of the conference sessions and activities, and provide a framework for defining the conference outcomes. Attendees will include health care professionals, financial and strategic planners, educators, human rights activists, economists and human rights activists, as well as key decision-makers and policymakers from approximately 30 developing countries. As a primary focus of the conference is political, invitees include internationally noted public leaders and figures who can rally and sustain international commitments to women’s health.
