Event summary

Soul City Institute for Health and Development Communication has trained and worked with fieldworkers for many years. This conference aims to bring together fieldworkers from 9 countries to discuss the research done and to share experiences.

The themes of the conference will be:

  • Methodology: this theme will focus on how the research is conceptualised and conducted, new ideas and new concepts.
  • AIDS: this theme will deal with research in sub-Saharan Africa on HIV and AIDS.
  • Violence against women and gender issues: this theme will focus on country specific issues about violence against women and gender.
  • Alcohol: this theme will focus on the prevention of the misuse of alcohol.

Call for abstracts:

The organisers are calling fieldworkers to do presentations at the conference. There will be 4 sessions that will require presentations and not all abstracts submitted will necessarily be presented. The presentations should be no longer than 20 minutes long and can cover research done with both adults and children. People interested are requested to send an abstract of their presentation of not more than 300 words, and state which theme their abstract relates to.

Abstracts should be submitted by the January 12 2007.

Participants will be informed if their presentation is accepted by the January 15 2007.
