Bird Flu Summit (Feb 27-28 2006)

Event summary

According to the conference website, the world, in particular some of the Asian countries, is threatened by a new strain of influenza virus found in birds. Avian Influenza affects not only birds and poultry but also infects humans, and if not controlled, is feared to result to a pandemic. Various government and private agencies are preparing their own strategies to prevent or arrest the possible outbreak of the pandemic influenza.



The purpose of the summit is to bring greater transparency to the global effort to fight the flu, provide an exchange network among the summit participants, and improve the quality of communication, co-ordination and collaboration needed for an international response programme. Facilities will be available for sponsorship, exhibition, media interviews, and contract conferences.
