democracy is about much more than voting once every 4-5 years

Real democracy is about much more than voting every 4-5 years - it is about how to obtain meaningful participation in the decision making process, by every citizen interested in being involved. It is also about how to engage those who at first invitation might not be excited about the chance to participate, in other words about the marginalized.

My business partner and I have creatred a simulation exercise that engages:
1) the average person/citizen (although we all know there is no such person) who is not accustomed to attending meetings and speaking in public;
2) the elected representatives and their public service representatives; and
3) members of multi-national corporations of every description (power and public utilities crown corporatios, and other quasi-governmental corporations such as workmen compensation boards, etc.)
in examining the decision making process no matter what the issue of concern.

We are anxious to share this training with as many communities, special interest groups, governments at all three levels and multi-nationals and crown corporations sincerely interested in how to make the process of public participation more meaningful than it has been up to this point in time.

Anyone interested in seeing this simulation demonstrated (for costs only) please get in touch with me for more details on how a one day workshop can change individuals, groups, organizations and even countries.
