Radio for Peace and Reconciliation:

Radio Kwizera (RK)
This is a community radio station that broadcasts to approximately 500 000 refugees in camps along the Tanzanian border with Rwanda and Burundi, as well as to local communities in the three countries. Set up in 1995, the station’s foremost aim is to foster peace and reconciliation in the region and to empower refugees by supplying them with information and by giving them a voice.

Mid-Term Evaluation of Search for Common Ground (Centre Lokolé) "Supporting Congo's Transition Towards Sustainable Peace" Programme in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)
This report documents a mid-term review to assess Search for Common Ground (SFCG)'s "Supporting Congo's Transition towards Sustainable Peace" radio programme. According to the evaluation, programmes have contributed to the transition process by enabling people to become better informed about the transition and better able to assess and act on information.

Radio for Education::

Southern Sudan Interactive Radio Instruction (SSIRI)
This programme aims to design, develop, and pilot-test appropriate and cost-effective technologies in an effort to provide learning opportunities for children, adults, and teachers in southern Sudan. Three grades of interactive radio instruction (IRI) programmes hope to complement and accelerate learning in core curriculum areas including initial literacy and numeracy.

Radio Instruction to Strengthen Education (RISE) project
This Tanzanian project aims to teach children literacy, numeracy, life skills related to health, hygiene, nutrition, and HIV/AIDS prevention through interaction radio instruction (IRI). Interactive lessons are broadcast over the national radio station network and trained onsite education mentors lead children through the lessons using printed guides. Wind-up and solar powered radios allow students and teachers to participate in the daily radio education programmes.
