Name: Tim Vickery
Organisation: Minded Development Communciations
I am an independent advisor on projects supported by the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, UNDP, Sida and other donors specialising in strategic communications & stakeholder engagement, public awareness campaign design and implementation, media relations/journalist training and capacity-building. For the past 13 years, I have worked at the highest levels of the public and private sectors, designing and implementing strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, public education, advocacy, and multi-media strategies for highly charged social, economic and administrative reforms, poverty reduction programmes and private sector development initiatives in over a dozen countries— from Yemen to Papua New Guinea. My particular areas of interest are poverty reduction/human development, social & economic reforms, governance, media and private sector development. In all that I do, I advocate for communication as a vital tool for poverty reduction/human development, reform success, conflict mitigation & consensus-building. Only then can we acheive aid effectiveness and development sustainability. I have also worked with donors on mainstreaming communication into development programming. I hold a Masters degree from the Columbia School of Journalism and headed up news operations for the Associated Press in Kiev, Ukraine until 2004 before returning to development work. In my adopted home country of Sweden, I also work as a freelance journalist, periodic television commentator and lecturer.
