Hello. I’m currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Queensland's Centre for Communication and Social Change in Australia–exploring how participatory video enables voice for poor and marginalized people.
The PhD builds on experience over five years as a participatory video (PV) and community digital storytelling (CDST) practitioner on projects with ActionAid Nepal, the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), Plan International and CARE in Cambodia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, Nepal and Vietnam. During that time, I also spent a few years as CARE International's global Climate Change Communications Officer (based in Hanoi, Vietnam).
To integrate theory and practice, I currently study... and work as a PV and CDST consultant. I hold Masters from IDS in Participation, Power and Social Change, and have more than 15 years’ experience in video and multimedia production, photography, public relations and communications.
Specialties: Designing, training and helping implement participatory video and photography projects for social change (with a particular focus on awareness raising, capacity building and advocacy).
