Name: Samuel Duru
Organisation: Visionbearers Foundation International
Role: Executive Director
I am a self-motivated, hard-working, dedicated, well-organized, focused and serious-minded individual. Always seeking to update myself with the relevance of times, especially in the development field; eager to be corrected, learn and conceptualize better in order to contribute optimally to the overall success of my organizational goals and the society at large. I’ve been actively engaged in youth-led development works that are focused on environmental sustainability, gender, education and HIV/AIDS since 2003. In other words, I have been working in these areas for six years now. I am an active agent for positive change. Thus, I always see my role in the way my environment is developed and managed as a sine qua non. I have joined forces with non-governmental organizations whose interests and concerns align with mine, to execute outdoor environmental projects successfully. I can perform the following field works: trail construction, park trail clean-up, invasive plant removal and tree-planting. Furthermore, I am very much concerned about the future of our planet, as it faces the grave threat of climate change. While all countries will suffer, the poor will bear the brunt of the impact. Thus, I plan to work in the environmental field; this way, I can contribute my quota to the ongoing green revolution. The obvious adverse impacts of climate change on the global economy is a true wake-up call, sounding an alarm about the need to jettison old patterns of economic growth and make a transition to a new era of greener, cleaner development. Investing in renewable sources of energy, eco-friendly infrastructure and energy efficiency will not only create jobs and spur recovery, but also help tackle global warming. I am sui generis because I can give birth to an idea and project it. To me, ideas are the magic wand of men entirely great. More so, I have the ability to work under pressure. I am a team player with demonstrated coordination skills. I have the ability to analyze and summarize diverse perspectives and messages. I also possess good inter-personal, communication and high analytical skills to enable me deliver my job functions. I have a great passion for reading, researching, writing, volunteering for the future, working with change makers, traveling to places, listening to educational and informative sounds, playing table tennis, swimming, listening to presentations, lectures and debates; participating in forums and analyzing what has been presented.
