Ruthibelle is a Media and Communications (Print and Online Journalism) student from the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica, with an avid interest in the development and empowerment of women, children and youth. She is also interested in how media can be used to enhance and further the education of these often marginalised and underrepresented groups, particularly in the Caribbean and Latin America.
At the moment, her focus lies on how print journalism can be used to highlight the challenges faced by women, children and youth, and possible solutions to these challenges. She has written for both major daily newspapers in Jamaica - the Observer and the Gleaner. She is a prolific reader, who writes poems, stories and songs.
She also founded her self-titled blog, Ruthibelle (http://ruthibelle.blogspot.com), which she uses to highlight issues of importance to her.
