Name: Mohammad Abdur Rouf
Organisation: Comprehensive Disaster Management Programme, UNDP, Bangladesh.
Role: Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist
Right now I am working as Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist at Comprehensive Disaster Management Programme - a programme of Peoples Republic of Government of Bangladesh, implemented by United Nations Development Programme and funded by, DFID-B, and EC. Just before joining here, I used to work as a Research Specialist (Business Consultant) in M&E unit of Industry and Rural Sectors Division of Swisscontact-Katalyst, a European Donor Consortium working with market development. Designing, conducting and coordinating intervention specific impact assessment studies are of my core responsibility. Apart from developing effective monitoring and evaluation tools, analysis of collected data is elementary part of my primary duties. Besides, as per the KATALYST standard, apart from M&E, I also am a part of Industry Market (Private healthcare). After my joining on July 1st, 2006, the whole of Katalyst M&E system came through a careful revision and fine tuning and currently we believe, we have an almost full proof M&E system effective enough to measure our success against committed indicators (plausible attribution). Before joining into KATALYST, I worked for Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio & Communication (BNNRC). With the direct guidance of the Chief Executive Officer, I had to monitor all the programme activities and coordinate them accordingly. Compilation of donor demanded reports, development of efficient M&E structure, preparation of financial estimates and fund mobilization resided within the boundary of my responsibilities. I also worked for Grameen Shikkha (Grameen Education, a sister concern of Grameen Bank working through ECD and ECCD approaches for childhood development) as Programme Officer. I have the exposure of working for another USAID initiative namely JOBS Project for more than three (3) years as MIS, Monitoring & Evaluation consultant during the period of 2000 to 2003. Through out my professional endeavor, I had ample scope of improving my writing and presentation skills. Besides, I had hands-on exposure to develop positive interpersonal and liaison skill. I have first hand experiences in Market/Business Development (KATALYST), Empowering Marginalized Population (BNNRC), Child-centered Livelihood Education (Grameen Shikkha) and Sustainable Employment Generation (JOBS). At Grameen Shikkha, working under direct supervision of General Manager, I actively participated in preparation of different strategic documents and concept papers. Project implementation through effective coordination has been the integral part of my working area since I have started working for JOBS till today for KATALYST.
