Experience – With twenty years in several branches of the publishing industry, fourteen of which have been in academic and scholarly communication, I have worked internationally and managed small teams in the workplace. I have worked directly with editors, library managers and research communication professionals. In this work, I have been directly involved with the development of new journal titles (including the "International Journal of Technology Management and Sustainable Development") and research repositories, witnessing the change towards open access. I set up Searchlighter towards the end of 2008. Goals – The motivation for setting up Searchlighter was to work for an enhanced and creative information environment for research and the profiles of research and higher education institutions with regard to repositories, digital libraries, publishing, research access and e-learning facilities. My vision for Searchlighter is to enable an international environment of mutual support between these institutions within their communities, interoperability across regions, and the development of new global communities as needs change in the research and higher education environment. With regard to collaborating in projects, I am looking to participate in the detailed planning, overall management, collation and dissemination of results, user/audience-based research, and report–writing. Specialisms – Digital libraries, publishing management, serials acquisition, title development, research dissemination, scholarly communications policy, audience analysis, publisher/rights-owner liaison, e-learning facilities, and open educational resources.
