I currently co-ordinate the HIV360º project on the online learning community, Rafi.ki (an innovative community for young people aged 11-18). The project aims to increase awareness and understanding of HIV and AIds amongst young people around the world and encourages young people to use what they have learnt to take action and put forward their thoughts and feeling to policy makers around the world about HIV and AIDS. This project is funded by the EC and we work with a partner organisation, TAP, in South Africa.
Before entering this role, I co-ordinated development work on the online community and worked alongside the Partnership manager to build working bonds with other charities and orgnaisations who wanted to use Rafi.ki to link up young people and educate them about a variety of development issues. I also led on the development and writing of a project about conflict resolution and peace building that focussed on engaging with young people's thoughts and activity around this theme.
Prior to joining Gemin-i I worked in the pubishing and advertising industry and managed the team that produced all advertorial content for world-leading legal guides.
I have a very keen interest in international development issues with a particular focus on the position of women, the efforts to end HIV and AIDS within a generation and a great interest in community-based efforts and small projects around the world to resolve conflicts and promote peace.
