Johannesburg, South Africa
The African Network for Strategic Communication in Health and Development (AfriComNet), a network of 1,200 strategic communication practitioners in 49 countries, will be holding this three-day practical workshop on HIV prevention among married and co-habiting couples in Africa. The aim of the workshop is to familiarise participants with the changing context of the HIV epidemic in Africa and designing tailored approaches to communicating prevention with these couples.
AfriComNet hopes to bring together 80-100 HIV/AIDS communication practitioners, programme implementers and policy makers from across the continent to analyse and share practical experiences, tools, research and educational materials, synthesise and package lessons learned for wider dissemination. The overall aim is to help HIV/AIDS programmes in Africa to refocus prevention efforts on issues relevant to couples in order to keep in step with the changing epidemic.
