This program is structured to allow participants to continue working full time while integrating learning into their daily work. It will provide an overview of participatory communication processes, including a review of the theory and philosophy that form the basis of this communicative approach. Participants will gain skills that enable them to manage and integrate programs requiring community participation and community mobilization. This online course provides the opportunity to apply participatory theories and concepts to real-life projects and problems in human development through individual assignments and group projects.
The course will address the facilitation of the following: participatory needs assessment; participation in decision making and creating an enabling environment; participatory photography, art, and theater; and participation in community owned media – radio, video, and internet.
Participants will explore developments in the realm of development communication, be prepared to conduct assessments for development communication initiatives, and learn to train development communication practitioners. To access a sample training module please click here.
