I have worked in the media for over fifteen years; both government and private media. I have also worked for community media focused on women's issues. I have interacted with people from diverse backgrounds in the course of my work, which has given me an in-depth understanding of divergent cultures. I have a good appreciation of cultural diversity and the value it has for global harmony.
I am intereted in a health and gender, health and poverty and reproductive health matters of indegenous peoples, especially women and young people. This is work I have done for more than half of my professional time.
In between health communiaction, I have been involved in policy advocacy work in participatory forest management in East Africa, which was very exctiting work. I worked with the very poor living close to vast resources that they could not fully access but were required to protect at all times; I came very close to deprivation amidst plenty.
