As an international social worker and educator for over six years, I worked with diverse groups of both youth and adults, in the US and abroad monitoring their progress, developing relevant programs and ensuring their success and personal growth. As a program associate at an international NGO, I was responsible for all aspects of two education and advocacy-focused programs including development and evaluation, reporting to stakeholders and coordinating staff both local and remote. In Cusco Peru I worked alongside a team of social workers and psychologists in developing workshops for young, single mothers who had left the Peruvian highland for an urban center with little knowledge of how to access vital resources such as health care, child care and employment. I was responsible for developing parenting support workshops addressing such themes as discipline, major child development milestones, education and for the mother’s self-care and self-esteem.
I am eager to put into practice my combined skill set as an educator and international social worker. I am looking forward to finding a new role focusing on advocay for human rights for those most vulnerable populations and community development work while gaining experience in the field.
