Md. A. Halim Miah
He did his first degree and Master’s in Anthropology in 1995. Then started his career as researcher with the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research in Bangladesh (ICDDR, B) a world renowned Public Health Research organization in the year 1996. He did his M.Phil. in Anthropology in the November 2002 where major courses were on Development Studies and conducting Social Research . Besides he has a Post Graduate Diploma in Youth in Development Work from Commonwealth Youth Program. In his professional career he worked for ICDDR,B about six years. Besides, he also worked for as lead Anthropologist, Qualitative Researcher for a UNICEF Pilot Project , “ Prevention of Child Injuries through Social Intervention and Education” (PRECISE), a world largest Child Injury Prevention Project in developing countries like Bangladesh from 2005 to 2009.
In 2010 he joined in the UNDP Bangladesh for conducting Situational Analysis, Facilitating bottom up Planning and implementing of MDGs at local level for “Localization of MDGs in Bangladesh”, under its “PRS and MDGs” project. He joined as Senior Policy Specialist for facilitating Policy Advocacy research, writing policy briefing and developing national policy advocacy strategy for BRAC extreme poverty program and subsequently compliment for others core program as the core staff of Advocacy for Social Change Department, BRAC since September, 2010 and worked till September 2013. On and off he did consultancy as freelancer for Comprehensive Disaster Management Program, UNDP Bangladesh and UNOPs, Oxfam GB Bangladesh, Asian Disaster Preparedness Program and Macro International Inco. , USA, Christian Community for Development in Bangladesh (CCDB) for carrying out social research with a view to support for developing policy advocacy strategies. He has some international research publications and popular articles in the esteemed national dailies on poverty and other public policy issues. He joined as Coordinator, Research and Advocacy in the Pathways From Poverty / Shiree project in September 2013 and worked till March 2014. Then he has joined Practical Answers of Practical Action Bangladesh in the April 2014.
