My name is Marina and I recently completed a Master of Science in Applied Labor Economics for Development organized jointly by the University of Turin, the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) and the ILO in collaboration with, among many others, the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC/CEPAL) and the World Bank. During this Master I had the opportunity to learn about a vast array of issues related to development (poverty, trade, MDG, informality, social protection, conditional cash transfers, rural employment, economic growth theory, gender issues, trade & value chains, SAM and CGE, Labor Force & Household surveys and analysis, Impact evaluation) and to strengthen my knowledge of quantitative methods while doing applied work in STATA. I am currently working on my Master's thesis which will be an empirical research about self-employment in Peru' using data from the National Household Survey. I previously studied Economics and Finance and graduated with a final thesis on money laundering in 2005. I am Italian but I lived and worked in the USA for almost 7 years in the field of accounting, financial reporting, cost analysis and grants management.
My professional aspirations is to work in the field of economic research – possibly in the field of international development - and I would like to find an opportunity in which I can utilize my knowledge, skills and prior work experience. I am interested in development issues, policy analysis and effectiveness combined with econometrics and statistics analysis. From my previous work experience I also bring strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and large data sets. I am a passionate and enthusiastic individual who cherish ownership and seek responsibility, with good analytical, interpersonal and communication skills strengthened by the fact that both in my previous work experience and during the Master I was immersed in a very diverse group. Last, I have a strong background in foreign languages that includes native Italian, fluent English, intermediate Spanish and French.
