Marco Meneses Instructional Designer for Health Education and Promotion. I have extensive expertise in strengthening Infant and Young Child Feeding Practices, the cornerstone in improving nutrition and primary health care in developing countries. My approach applies what has been learned over the last 25 years in maternal and child survival projects and adapts innovations from other disciplines including business, behavior change and communications to improve maternal and child health and nutrition. I focus on community-based approaches that improve the nutritional status and optimal feeding practices in the context of child health, nutrition and food security interventions. I have a strong and personal interest in PMTCT (Prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV) and the interrelationship with family planning, nutrition, tuberculosis and counseling. I have twenty years experience working in program planning, implementation and evaluation in the area of nutrition, public health, and health education. I have worked in Somalia and Sudan (1993- 1994) supervising programs for child survival, water and sanitation, immunizations, and food for work. In Angola (1991- 1992) I trained traditional birth attendants and community health workers in nutrition and primary care and oversaw therapeutic and supplemental feeding programs. I also worked in Equatorial Guinea, Honduras with the U.N. (U.N High Commissioner for Refugees, U.N World Food Programme, U.N Development Programme and UN Volunteers 1985- 1991) supervising food for work programs and refugee camps management with a focus on accessing the most vulnerable populations. In Colombia (1983-1984) with the Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar as rural Nutritionist and Dietitian. I hold certificates in Microcomputer Applications (Microsoft Office) and as Network Administrator (Windows NT- 2000) from the Waubonsee Community College, Illinois. I have strong financial and supervisory skills. I speak Spanish, English and I am familiar with Portuguese and Arabic.
