I have 10 years of international experience working in varieties media sectors with prominent international organisations such as UNICEF, BBC Media Action, Intermedia and the British Embassy in Sudan. Iam a bilingual in Arabic and English. Furthermore, Iam well acquainted with the multicultural environment in media.
I was the Press Officer at the British Embassy in Khartoum for four years and built a strong network with local and international media in Sudan. I produced the daily news summary and engaged the members of the national and international media. I served three Ambassadors and was tasked with developing media strategies for the “UK in Sudan” campaign which were guided by discussions with the Ambassadors. I also promoted the use of local media and the UK businesses in Sudan. In addition, I organised media coverage for interviews with the Ambassadors, visiting Governmental officials and a variety of embassy events.
I have also worked for development and emergencies situation in Darfur for six years. During that period, I conducted number of researches in different development sectors and implemented communication strategies. I worked for a humanitarian radio with BBC Media Action researching for
information and access to media in which war effect personal would benefit for them. I led and organised forums for the war effect people to discuss their needs and informed the radio programme and aid workers about their recommendations.
As a consultant, I have contributed to group research for the UN Habitat and recently facilitated Intermedia in its Field Survey in Chad. I also worked for a health communication team in collaboration with international partners at Liverpool University about TB/HIV. I also managed the local research component by developing and designing a health communication manual. In addition, I evaluated its impact in increasing access to health services and I presented the research finding to inform decision makers.
I have strong management skills and team leading experience. I have managed teams in urban, rural, remote and conflict settings to produce audience research and reports based upon the client expectations. In this regard, I have considerable experience in conducting interviews with a variety of clients, developing networks and situation analysis.
I am also highly skilled in producing digital media products and I have managed websites, Facebook, Twitter and Google +.
