DAVID DANKWA-APAWU is an educational linguist, a literacy consultant, a child rights activist, and a lecturer of English Language at Ghana Institute of Journalism, Accra-Ghana. For the past fifteen years, I have worked, in various capacities, with both public and private educational institutions and at practically all levels of education.
I am self-motivated and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and proven leadership and administrative skills. I support the social reconstuctionist philosophy of education; thus, I strongly believe that education is a tool for social change and reconstruction.
My research interest is in investigating the impact of learners’ social background on their proficiency in a second language. I am currently conducting various studies in intercultural communication, children and young adults literature, strategies for language teaching, and the application of communication skills in education. I have also attended and facilitated a number of courses and workshops aimed at strengthening my training capacity and expertise. I am currently a PhD Candidate pursuing Media and Communication at European Graduate School, Switzerland. I am based in Ghana now.
