Home Economics, an award for global youth service (2006) and outstanding peer education and voluntary work (2005). His many achievements comes from his enthusiasm and love for volunteerism in youth and community development and leadership. He was a National UN Volunteer – Community Youth Facilitator under the UNDP Enhanced Public Trust, Security and Inclusion attached to Volunteer Youth Corps Inc. (VYC) as the Officer in Charge of Community Projects, Programme Support and Volunteers System focusing on providing learning experiences to the after-school youth to reduce violence, Conflict Resolution, Peer Mediation, enhance personal integrity and foster mutual respect. Coordinating volunteers for VYC’s to support program activities; facilitating peace education sessions with communities and managing the young leader club. This includes addressing issues relating to family planning for sexually active youth, teenage pregnancy, non-violence behavior, conflict transformation; the Caribbean Member on Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS providing strategic information and Guidance in the region on HIV, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights community projects amongst young people and the Founder & Chairperson of Diverse Youth Movement responsible for organizational management, leadership and membership personal development. He has been doing Sexual and Reproductive Health, HIV and Human Rights peer educator & trainer and a facilitator with local civil society organizations in Guyana on issues around young people and the sexual and gender minority communities. He is experience developing and implementing projects for young people in, life skills, livelihoods’, governance, community mobilization and leadership. He also is serving as a Youth representative on the Youth Advisory Board for World Youth Congress.
Over the past 5 years, Korey has served as the Youth Programmes Coordinator for Society Against Sexual Orientation Discrimination implementing empowerment and development projects for young sexual and gender minorities; a Resource Assistant (consultant) for UNAIDS/MOH Adolescents Living with HIV Progarmme, Ensuring that the systems have the capacity to deal with adolescent and young adults would access their services, the National Focal Point for Guyana on Global Youth Coalition HIV/AIDS, the UNAIDS Special Youth Programme - Fellow, UN Joint Team on AIDS in Guyana Youth Volunteer, Community Facilitator for EveryChild Guyana, Projects Assistant for GuyberNet, an advocate for Commonwealth Youth Programme for positive living, Administrative/Research Assistant for Volunteer Youth Corps, Community Coordinator for International AIDS Candlelight Memorial for the Global Health Council and volunteer as peer educator/counselor for young people, person in same sex relationships and sex workers. He has also served as the Chairperson of GuyberNet Youth Arm, Secretary for Guyana Rainbow Foundation (GUYBOW) and on the Community Programme Committee for the International AIDS Conference 2010; where he is the Co-chair for Youth Programme and sets on the Global Village Working Group, the International Liaison for People Living with HIV Lounge and as a reviewer for programme activities and the red ribbon award for AIDS 2010. Korey received training in youth leadership & development, proposal writing and project management, appreciative inquiry, character building, governance, self-awareness & personal development, facilitation, identifying special educational needs, sexual and reproductive health, sexuality issues STI, HIV education and AIDS Competence, Community mobilization, Case navigation performing arts, script writing & design.
