Chimbidzikai has more than 11 years of work experience with UNESCO serving in various portfolios. Between 2005 and 2011 he was the Programme Assistant and later Junior Programme Officer for Culture in the UNESCO Harare Cluster Office. Between August 2010 and August 2011, he served as Acting Programme Officer for Communication and Information and later took charge of the Culture Sector until February 2014. In March 2014, he joined the UNESCO Windhoek Office as Programme Officer for Communication and Information until July 2016. Mapfumo has also done consultancy work for the UNESCO Regional Office for Southern Africa particularly developing policy briefs on SDG 4 and the Regional Support Strategy. He has just been appointed the Communication and Information Officer for the Office and will be responsible for all public information activities and production of publications in the Office.
