Levurn Jacobs was born Bredasdorp a small rural town in the Western Cape. Levurn holds a Licentiate in Theology. She has been involved in the development and training sector for the past 15 years. Her career started in the Bredasdorp Advice Office, where she assisted farm workers with the implementation of their labour rights and facilitated training for the local community on various topics. She was employed at Women on Farms project for almost ten years as the co-ordinator of the labour rights training unit. More recently she was employed by the Wine Industry Ethical Trading Initiate as the Material Development and Training Co-ordinator.
Cheryl Farao was born in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, South Africa. She holds a BA (HONS) Social Work degree from the University of the Western Cape. She has for the past 15 years worked in the field of Restorative Justice, Gender, Women and Community Development.Cheryl has worked for the Western Cape Based NGO, Women on Farms Project from 1998 – 2007. During this period she was responsible for the development of the Women’s Health and Empowerment Program.During her stay at Women on Farms Project she was also involve in 2 international programs. In 2000, an exchange program to work amongst the South India Cluster Program and in 2002, to participate during the White Ribbon Campaign in London and Wales in highlighting the plight of farm workers in South Africa.
Cedric Bruintjies was born in the rural areas of the Nortern Cape in a place called Cradock. He has been involve with NGO's for the last 12 years he is one of the founder member of the farm worker unoins. In 1998 he became the research in fetal alcohol syndrome with Fas Facts a NGO doing work in the field of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Awareness. In 2002 he was asked by the Ministry of Agriculture in the Western Cape to launch a Federation for the farm worker unions. He gradute as a Master Mentor thru the National Department of Agriculture in 2005. In 2007 he gradute at the University of Stellenbosch Business School in Wine Management. In 2008 he started the South African Farm Workers Association (SAFWA) who is doing socio -economic development in the rural areas of South Africa.
