I work as a development program volunteer with Kawempe Youth Centre in Kampala, Uganda. I assist the organization in development children and youth focussed programs. I am particularly interested in the field of edu-tainment and using traditional forms such as theatre and folk tales in engaging young people on issues that affect their own lives and community change. Currently, we are utilizing traditional Music and folk tales to educate young people on HIV/AIDS and to foster behaviour and attitude change. Our areas of interest are HIV/AIDS, Gender and human sexualities, Children's rights and the environment. In the near future, i hope to become more involved in Gender related work involving men and boys in gender equality issues and responsible fatherhood. I am also interested in sexual minority rights advocacy work. We hope to utilise traditional medias to sensitize and educate communities on these issues.
I possess more than 5 years experience in volunteer work assisting grassroots organisations in marginalised communities to design programs that utilise traditiona medias to engage youth and communities in social development. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences from Makerere Universitym, Kampala, Uganda.
