Mr. Baikie has extensive experience in the energy and telecom industries, on many levels. He began his career as a power engineer for an US based energy utility, engineering power distribution systems for major industrial customers followed by 16 years at Sun Microsystems as telecom industry expert, while at present, he engineers and implements solar powered ICT-4D projects.
He currently heads Green WiFi, a solar powered data and WiFi network technology company. As CEO of Green WiFi, Bruce oversees the company’s product design, production, and implementation of solar powered ICT, many which involve OPLC laptops.
His areas of expertise include: wireless networking, eco-data centers, DC power, and solar power. Mr. Baikie has published numerous white papers and articles on green data center operations, WiFi management, solar power in ICT4D, and ISP operations.
His educational background includes a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University and advanced studies in International Business from the University of Wisconsin. Mr. Baikie is also a guest lecturer on solar powered ICT4D at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy. Also, he is active with Engineers without Borders and the UN’s volunteers program for ICT.
