I am interested in pursuing a career in applied anthropology/international development. My general focus is on refugee women in conflict and post-conflict societies. Specifically, my current research focuses on ethnic Armenian refugee women from Syria, Iraq, and Azerbaijan living in Armenia and the refugee networks they have formed with each other. Past research has focused on transnational post-genocide communities, particularly the Istanbul-Armenian diaspora in Los Angeles. I examined the impact of Armenian diaspora politics on this community and how the traumatic memory of the 1915 Armenian genocide is differently experienced by Armenians from or living in Turkey today, as opposed to other diasporan groups, such as Armenian-Americans.
