A medical doctor who currently occupies the position of the Director of Advocacy & Communication at the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) in Nigeria since September 2014. Following employment by the Agency in 2004 as a Deputy Director, has held various positions of increasing responsibilities; largely dealing in policies and technical support for communicable disease control with emphasis on immunizations and other child/maternal survival intervention. In this period, have participated/conducted several training, workshop and field activities; including attendance of various relevant national and international courses/conferences.
Following graduation from medical school, commenced in public and later private clinical practice in the early 80's through 90's, including period of practice as an Aviation Medical Examiner. In the period 1997-1999, was appointed a member of Kano State Executive Council, as the Hon. Commissioner for Health. Have undertaken various community projects and over the years, have acquired extensive management/public heath skills beneficial for the upliftment of the health of our communities and populations. Have been given some modest awards and accorded personal recognition for these endeavors by some authoritie.
Credited with a few joint publications in accredited national and International Medical Journals. An active member of various professional associations that include the Nigeria Medical Associatio, Aerospace Medical Associatio, International Society for Infectious Diseases, American Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygien, International Association of Immunization Managers, Member Nigeria Institute of Management.
