Abeer Abu Saud is a Communication and Marketing expert with extensively broad experience in this field. Until April 2010, she was the Project Director for Jordan Pioneers communication contract with the Private Sector Project (a USAID project in Jordan). Earlier, was the Team Leader for Community Health, as an Abt. Associates employee, with Health Systems Strengthening (USAID Project/Jordan). In her role, she supervised the project’s health promotion/community participation activities, and was responsible for marketing HSS health information to the Jordanian public, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH). In her capacity as the Health Communication and Marketing Adviser, as an Abt. Associates employee, with Primary Health Care Initiatives (another USAID Project/Jordan), she succeeded in developing and implementing major portions of the Health Communication and Marketing strategic communication plans of PHCI, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. Her responsibilities included overseeing the dissemination and marketing of PHCI health information to the Jordanian public, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH) at sub-national (governorate) and national levels. Abeer started her career in 1974 with Qatar Radio/English Service. During her 10 years of work in Qatar (1974-1984), she authored the first book in English on Qatari women entitled; "Qatari Women Past and Present" published by Longman, U.K.1984. She joined the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa in Amman-Jordan (1986-1997). As the Communication Information Officer she helped implement UNICEF communication policies in the Middle East and North Africa region in support of the organization’s overall strategies, and use social mobilization as an effective means of achieving regional and national targets. She designed communication and fund raising campaigns in line with program activities and objectives, and ensure proper implementation and evaluation. In 1993, Abeer managed and supervised, in collaboration with Dr. Edward Palmer from Children Television Workshop (CTW), a regional “Enter-Educate” radio magazine series entitled “Intibah/attention”. This production was targeted to families in the Arab world. It was produced by UNICEF under the umbrella of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU).
