Sophia is a project manager and lawyer specialized in international, labour and competition law and international development. She is currently working as a Millenium Development Goal Programme Officer with the International Labour Organization. In this position, she manages all aspects of the ILO’s involvement in two joint-UN programmes which deal with social inclusion, economic development and employment promotion for young migrants and ethnic minorities respectively. Prior to moving to Beijing, she worked as a lawyer in the regulatory and public law division of Minter Ellison, a top tier law firm in Melbourne. During this time, as well as throughout university, she was also very active in access to justice issues, providing pro-bono assistance for a number of legal clinics for homeless persons', indigenous people and asylum seekers.
She is interested in issues around democratic governance, rule of law, access to justice, youth and gender empowerment and workers' rights.
