I am a person who likes to communicate new ideas and exposure in order to advance and bring about a significant change to the universe.Currently I am working as Communications/Media Officer for UNFPA Somalia Country office, from Nairobi with frequent travel to all the three zones of Somalia.
I am also providing strategic and technical guidance to implement Behavioral Change Communications programs and supervise 3 staff. I am providing technical support to the management design, technically support and continually supervise the planning implementation, coordination and evaluation of the Branding Strategy along with periodic production and dissemination of other communication materials and publications both in print and audiovisual http://somalia.unfpa.org/
For almost three years, I have served as Communications & BCC Advisor with USAID/Food by Prescription program at Save the Children Ethiopia, overseeing the implementation of Behavior Change Communications, Branding, Advocacy and Communications strategies with major activities of development of community and health facility based materials.
My four years of secondement with the Ethiopian Government by UNDP experience as Communications Specialist gave me the exposure and hands on practice on skills like administration, event coordination, communication and media relations activities. I have proven ability to establish a new Public Relations Department and supervised 4 staff with responsibility of the overall communication strategy implementation and budgeting.
Besides, I have over four years of experience as Vice President at Rotaract Club of Action, as Marketing & Public Relations at Dashen Plastic PLC & as International Community Service officer at Rotaract Club of Raey at Addis Ababa University. All in all, I have developed excellent interpersonal and conflict management skills through the many negotiations I have done with service providers, government managers, donors, customers and co-workers, which have allowed me to build the type of coalitions as being critical to the job.
