GeoVission General Company Limited has worked with a number of organizations in providing services in different specialized areas. We have worked with WaterAid Tanzania, Concern Worldwide and Ingenieria Sin Fronteras (ISF) in the Improved Community Waterpoints mapping whereby a geospatial database containing Spatial and Non-spatial data information have been developed it is now being used by the organizations. GeoVission has also worked with United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in the School Mapping Project with the main aim of preparing maps showing the geographical location of schools, accessibility, status (number of students, teachers, books) as well as the school service level. This project was carried out in the following districts: Tarime, Musoma, Mbeya Rural and Urban, Dodoma, Mpwapwa, Kondoa, Singida, Manyoni, Kilosa, Morogoro, Kilombero, Ulanga, Mufindi, and Iringa.
We are currently developing a geospatial data gateway for Tanzania a tool for disseminating digital spatial data through the Internet. The client for this project is GeoVission General Company Limited. The main aim of this project is to serve digital spatial data through the internet at the fastest and reliable technology. Details of our experience is given below.
GeoVission in collaboration with TKA Co. Ltd have developed and installed a Property Tax Billing System for the Kinondoni and Ilala Municipality to improve the ability of the Councils to record and track the collection and payment of property tax.
1. Project: Improved Community Water Point mapping
Client: WaterAid Tanzania
The main aim of the project is to carry the survey and mapping of improved water points in the three districts of Mpwapwa, Kiteto and Nzega. It involves collection of data on the status of water and sanitation in order to assist and monitor the improvements in service delivery to the WaterAid. The data to be managed through the modern designed database system is aiming at helping WaterAid to achieve both the national and millennium development targets through understand the status and distribution of water and sanitation facilities in the pilot districts. The information from the survey will be generated in a format that will enable integration with other existing datasets such as population census to assist the WaterAid in its effective spatial planning of water resource allocation and also be used as baseline for monitoring service delivery and other regulatory purposes by the local authorities.

2. Project: Online control and Dissemination of Geospatial data through the Internet.
Year : 2003 -To date
The main aim of this project is to develop a web based geospatial data dissemination system that will help to guide all GIS and geospatial data user to know what is available in Tanzania, who is custodian of the same, at what accuracy, how and where to get at appropriate time.
This project is one of its kind being the first to support Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) in Tanzania, especially on the aspects of geospatial data communication.

3. Project: Design and development of Tanzania Meat Product website.
Client: Tanzania Meat Products (2002)ltd - TANMEAT
Year : September, 2004 - to date
TANMEAT (2004) Ltd wants to own a website specifically for marketing his products. GeoData will guide the whole process from the whole to the part based on water drop model techniques for software engineering. GeoData is proud with the project and the development techniques involved since we do modify and upgrade the site without affecting any part of the running cycle but maintaining the security integrity and data control.
4. Project: Design and Implementation of Integrated Property Tax Management System
Client: Kinondoni Municipal Council
Year: February, 2005 to date
Integrated Property Tax Management System (IPROM) is the software that manages municipal’s collection of property tax. The software has interfaces for keying in particulars for both valued and non-valued properties, which it uses for generating debts for tax payers in every year. These debts are reflected on the demand notes that the software generates and issued to property owners every year as tax payable. The software offers an interface for quick search of a property or property owner retrieving all relevant particulars and it gives an option to edit the retrieved particulars
The software also has an interface for capturing payment particulars and print receipt straightaway for those tax payers who prefer to make their payments directly to the municipality accounting department. For those tax payers who prefer to make their payments through bank, the software has an interface that captures payment particulars from pay slips as well as an interface that captures lines from bank statements. The software has an option to perform reconciliation of pay slips and bank statement either manually or automatically. The software has an option to generate various penalties to tax payers.
Apart from demand notes, the software generates various reports, for example total collection, amount collected at a particular moment of time, and amount due. Other reports are collection report for a specified range of time, and financial transactions for an individual tax payer
The system also interacts with other systems like EPICOR and Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
3.2. Previous Projects
1. Project: Schools Mapping Project
Year : June, 2000
The Client was interested to know the location of all schools at ward level with the number of students, teachers, all available infrastructure including roads, electricity, water and environmental profile of the place like mountains, forest etc. This work was done by using a GPS that was connected to a laptop and was downloading data direct into a GIS in a laptop. About 1,500 schools in more than 205 wards were mapped in 42 weeks.
2. Project: Designing, developing and implementing an Environmental Electronic Atlas of Dar Es Salaam City.
Client: GeoData Consultants
Year : 2001-to date
Designing, developing and implementing an Environmental Electronic Atlas of Dar Es Salaam The task included information need assessment, Digital geospatial database design, graphical User interface design and programming in visual basic the map worksheets that will accommodate those graphics.
3. Project: Preparation of Wetlands Atlases for the Lake Victoria Basin Wetlands.
Client: Wetlands Component-Lake Victoria Environment Management Council
Designed and prepared Wetland Atlases for the lake Victoria Basin, as part of the Lake Victoria Environment Management Project. The Atlases are have been prepared at regional level. There are three atlases which are for Mara, Mwanza and Kagera regions.
4. Project: Mapping Areas of Aquaculture Activities in the Dar-es-salaam Region
Client: Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute (TAFIRI)
Year :January – June 2003
The project involved mapping the exact location of all fishponds and seaweed farming areas along the coastline. It involved the application of the GPS in which all locations and areas of the ponds and seaweed farming places were determined and mapped.
