Ms Sonali Khan champions the role of social activism with a mission to ending violence against women and girls and promoting the importance of gender equity. She brings along more than two decades of professional experience in strategic planning & organizational development, developing program & campaign strategies and designing research methodology. She completed her Master’s in Philosophy from Jawaharlal Nehru University and recently became a Harvard Business School fellow having completed the Strategic Perspectives in Non-profit Management program on full scholarship.
Over the years, Sonali Khan has established herself as an acclaimed leader of women rights and has led popular social campaigns at Breakthrough like “Is this Justice?”, “What Kind of Man Are You”, “Bell Bajao”, “Nationa against Early Marriage,” “MissionHazaar” amongst others.
She has been invited by Ministry of Finance, Government of India for pre-budget discussion and she sits on the boards of MenEngage Alliance and Plan international. Prior to foraying into the development sector, she played a successful innings in journalism with shows on the BBC World, Star Plus and CNBC.
Over the last twelve years, Sonali’s management role has been amplified from providing a campaigns lens to Breakthrough’s interventions and development programs to a magnified scope of ensuring the overall comprehensive programmatic excellence to push for social change and impact. Besides, she represents the organization and engages with the Government of India, donors, international agencies, the UN agencies, civil society organizations and other key stakeholders.
