Media For and About Young Children: Workshop Report (Bangladesh)Publication Date2002 SummaryIn March, 2002, a two-day workshop in Bangladesh on media for and about children was conducted by UNICEF in collaboration with the National Institute for Mass Communication (NIMC) and the Bangladesh Shishu Academy (BSA). The 31 media participants who attended explored the importance of early childhood development (ECD) for the lifelong development of the child and the role of media in advancing that development. The workshop exposed participants to various media productions for and about children, asking them to critically evaluate this media with an eye to its relevance for adaptation in Bangladesh. Guidelines about the production of media designed for infants and young children were shared and prototype media was developed based on these guidelines.
In addition to detailing these discussions, the report features nine appendices, some of which include feedback from participants. One notable reflection gleaned from this feedback focusses on gender differences in ECD. PublisherContactTomas Jensen
