Reporting HIV/AIDS: Curriculum for the Journalism and Communications Department, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia
'Reporting HIV/AIDS' is part of the Masters in journalism and communication degree coursework of the Faculty of Journalism and Communications, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. Prepared in cooperation with Internews, the course content includes an examination of media approaches and responsibilities in reporting HIV and the portrayal of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) and marginalised risk groups. It explores issues of cultural and social opposition, as well as stigmatising language, and offers appropriate sources and resources, all in the Ethiopian context. It is designed to be flexibly formatted for delivery, either in the classroom or as a distance/online module.
Two document sources are available: a curriculum guide of 48 pages in PDF format and a zipped file for download containing folders of PDF format print stories, radio stories, a course reader, further course readings, and the curriculum document.
