Annotated Guide to the Complete UN Trafficking Protocol

In December 2000, the UN Crime Commission adopted protocol to serve as a law enforcement instrument to prevent trafficking in persons, which is defined as "the recruitment, harboring, transporting, providing or obtaining, by any means, any person for labor or services involving forced labor, slavery or servitude in any industry, such as forced or coerced participation in agriculture, prostitution, manufacturing, or other industries or in domestic service or marriage."

Published in 2002, this 40-page guide is meant to assist advocates in the development of laws and policies for a U.S. anti-trafficking in persons' human rights framework. It combines the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, especially Women and Children and relevant portions of the Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime and the Interpretative Notes into one document. It also provides guidance on the key sections of the complete Trafficking Protocol.
